Public Speaking 2009 ...

"As long as there are human rights to be defended, as long
as there are great interests to be guarded, as long as the
welfare of Nations is a matter for discussion, so long will
public speaking have its place." William Jennings Bryan

Congratulations to our two intrepid public speaking represen-
tatives who provided a memorable, entertaining and enlight-
ening afternoon at the 27th Inter-College Senior Public
Speaking finals at St Kevin's College on the 16th December 2009.

Lawrence Fitzpatrick won the Jonathan Philbin Bowman Cup
for his incisive and thought provoking presentation on the
positive benefits of the downturn in our Economy.

Amanda Sloan entertained the audience with a lighthearted
yet analytical look at the world of fashion.

Well done to our two speakers - they did us proud ....

Table Quiz ...

Table Quiz was organised promoted and carried out by Students Council Members. 18 teams took part from all sectors of the college community. Ben Lyndsay (Community Care) acted as Question Master carrying off a masterful performance. Prize money amounting to €240 came from Students Funds. Proceeds from the table quiz and raffle came to €250. The nominated charity was St. Pauls Special School, Beaumont.

Inter-college Senior Public Speaking ...

The inter-college senior public speaking
blitz took place at St. Kevin's College on
11th December. Congratulations to our two
representatives from Whitehall College, Deirdre
Creasey (in 3rd place)and George Best. Both
speakers charmed the audience with their
spectacular wit and humour. A great afternoon
of entertainment was enjoyed by all who attended. Well done! (see Gallery)

Adult Education Part-Time Evening Classes. Enrolment commences Monday 8th September 6.30 p.m. - 9.30 p.m. ...

All courses will be held on Tuesday Night.
All courses commence at 6.30p.m.
Courses Available:
Health & Safety At Work (FETAC Level 5)
Caring for Children (FETAC Level 5)
Care Provision & Practice (FETAC Level 5)
Communications (FETAC Level 5)
English Language (ESOL)
Computers for the Absolute Beginner - Equal Skills
Typing - Keyboard Accuracy and Speed
Beginners Bridge
All courses will run from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. The FETAC Level 5 courses will run for 20 weeks. All other courses will run for 10 weeks. The cost of the 20 week courses is €225 and the 10 week courses is €120

Public Speaking for International Students ...

The annual Inter-Colleges Senior Public
Speaking Competition for the Nelson Mandela
Cup took place in The Teachers Club on
Wednesday 30 January 2008.

Well done to Mayra Iskhakova who came 2nd
in the competition and delivered a very
poignant speech on 'confidence'. Radion Zemka
gave an incisive and witty presentation on our
24/7 lifestyle.
