LEVEL 5 CHILDCARE AWARD (DCHSC) ONE YEAR

This course will enable students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a Childcare Assistant in a creche, playgroup, after-school day care, or similar setting.

The focus of the course is to develop the interpersonal, social and practical skills necessary to work in early years education.

Entry Requirements

Ordinary Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied. All applicants must have two references relevant to social care and are subject to individual and group interview. Applications are welcome from mature students with relevant experience.

Progression/Employment

Students will acquire the skills necessary to take up employment as a childcare or special needs assistant in a variety of childcare settings.

Students may be eligible to apply to Third Level Colleges through the Higher Education Links Scheme.
