LEVEL 6 NETWORKS AND SOFTWARE SYSTEMS AWARD (CNSSX) 2 YEARS

This is a 2 year course which is ideal for those wishing to specialise in computer networking and those wishing to achieve an industry recognised qualification to enhance their job opportunities.

The course combines the FETAC/NCVA Level 6 Networks and Software Systems award with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programme.

Some of the topics students are introduced to are Networking, Routing Technologies, Switching Concepts, LAN and WAN technologies.

Entry Requirements

Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied. Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate Mathematics is desirable.

Direct application to the second year of the CCNA programme is welcome from students who have successfully completed CCNA Semesters 1 and 2.

Applications are welcome from mature students. All entry is subject to interview.

Progression/Employment

Successful students may, subject to ITB entry requirements, progress into Year 2 of the Higher Certificate in Science in Information Technology BN002 at ITB (Blanchardstown).
For course content seehttp://www.itb.ie/StudyatITB/bn002.html.Students who have passed their CCNA examination may also avail of additional subject exemptions.

There are many job opportunities for students with a strong IT background. Successful students will have excellent career prospects in Information Technology such as Networking, Technical Support and Programming.
